Today we’re sharing pictures we’ve created in two different times and in two different Azores islands, Pico and São Miguel. Sofia and Fred had their beautiful Azores wedding in São Miguel, a truly diverse place when it comes to landscape (and seafood!). But this couple started their love journey in Pico (the first image of this post), where this photographic journey also began. And it began like this:
While driving through the road that connects the South and North of Pico’s island we came across a herd of cows and their shepherd. We had to stop for a while so that the herd could pass by and we were actually delighted with this sight because it’s something we don’t get to see that often. It was amusing. We even made a small video with our phone and noticed that some of the locals were not as amused as we were, it was a frequent situation for them and understandably annoying. A few hours later we meet Sofia and Frederico for the first time to eat some lapas and discuss our plans for their engagement shoot. We mentioned that we passed by a road with great photographic potential and we happily told them about our small encounter with a herd of cows, which happened in that same road. That’s when Frederico tell us that it happens to him a lot and he’s always so annoyed because it makes him late for work. He had also encountered a herd of cows earlier that day and he even saw some tourists filming the event like it was something special! Hum… “that’s interesting, we’ve also made a video…” So we showed them our video and we all laughed our lungs out when we recognized Frederico’s angry face in it! Scroll down to the very end of this post to see it! You can also see some of the pictures with did with them in this now super funny road.
We decided to tell this story because we think it’s hilarious but it tells you absolutely nothing about this couple and their families hospitality (quite the contrary). So we must set the record straight: Sofia and Fred, you and your families treated us like family (even your pets! How we miss Olivia!). We’ve slept on your moms bed, we’ve slept and ate a giant feast at your place in Pico and got so many hugs and smiles from everyone on your wedding day. We really treasure those times, specially now. Thank you for that and we can only hope that you and your family feel that these images are a faithful record of your bonds and that you can treasure them forever.
